MLE 1000 Series - Rapid Prototyping System

The MLE 1000 Series Rapid Prototyping System (RPS) is a versatile and compact rapid prototyping for automotive and aerospace electronic control units (ECU), infotainment and mobile internet devices (MID), embedded systems design and industrial control.

The MLE 1000 Series RPS gives you an early copy of the target hardware running your target software. This facilitates architectural exploration at the electronic system level and enables concurrent design and live testing of hardware, software and diagnostic functions. It also reduces risk and test time during system integration. The MLE 1000 Series RPS is a complete development system comprising flexible “soft” hardware and stable off-the-shelf software components.

At the hardware level, the MLE 1000 Series RPS uses FPGA technology with an embedded CPU coupled with a wide array of connectivity headers. This ensures sufficient parallel signal processing power and a high degree of flexibility to connect additional system components. At the software level, you can choose between different operating system environments such as Linux, OSEK-OS and QNX.

The MLE 1000 Series RPS comes with a full Linux operating system and MLE customized device drivers that provide application level control of the provided connectivity interfaces. The MLE 1000 Series RPS Linux distribution includes many ready-to-run software packages for the MLE 1000 Series RPS which include different file systems, TCP/IP networking, X11, window managers, multimedia components and ftp/http/SSL web services out-of-the-box. This allows you to focus on building your software application.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Ready to run! - The MLE 1000 Series Rapid Prototyping System is NOT just a circuit board with an FPGA. It resembles a fully functional Linux workstation with the ability to support a wide range of application specific interfaces through use of flexible "soft" hardware.
  • Flexible "Soft" Hardware - Gives you the full support of standard PC interfaces together with your application specific connectivity. The MLE 1000 Series RPS supports: USB, Ethernet, WLAN, Bluetooth, RS232, DVI, AC'97 as well as CAN, SPI natively. It also supports custom Rx/Tx channels via our GPIO connector and additional interfaces (upon request) can be added via an upgrade of the MLE Unified Design Image (UDI). To learn which additional interfaces are supported click here.
  • Fully customizable Linux workstation- The MLE 1000 Series RPS comes with a current Linux kernel and all required drivers to access the supported interfaces on an application level. This allows software developers to focus on building their application instead of debugging circuit boards and device drivers. Using Linux also allows you to leverage existing services and open source community applications (e.g. built-in Apache webserver).
  • Small form factor - Measuring 210 x 160 x 30 mm the MLE 1000 Series RPS fits easily on your desktop or workbench. With low power consumption and a wide range of power options (standard PC and automotive connectors plus 110/220V power supply) the MLE 1000 Series RPS is truely portable.
